Diabetes Prevention Programme – Proven Impact & NHS Cost Savings

Bollyfit Active CIC delivered a 24-week Diabetes Prevention Programme in Crumpsall and Levenshulme, working with 75 women from predominantly South Asian and deprived communities.

The programme achieved strong engagement and retention, measurable improvements in weight and metabolic health, and increased social connection and confidence. This shows how culturally tailored, women-only movement programmes can reach groups who do not typically engage with mainstream services.

Health & Economic Value

Based on NHS prevention modelling:

  • Estimated NHS cost savings: £740–£920 per participant over 3–5 years

  • Total projected NHS cost savings for the cohort: £55,500–£69,000

  • Additional wider economic benefits: £18,750–£26,250

This represents a high return on investment for commissioners and aligns with NHS, MLCO, PCN, and GMCA priorities on prevention and reducing health inequalities.
